Welcome to The Wicked Traveled Historian! My name is Zach, a Historian who loves running half marathons, to travel, talking history, and taking in as much POP! Culture as possible.

The Wicked Traveled Historian comes from two facts. 1) I have a Ph.D. in History from the University of Hawaii, teach a local college, love to travel for any reason, and enjoy exploring the history of those places I visit. 2) I am from Massachusetts and have used the word “wicked” my entire life. Throw it in front of an adjective and take your point up a notch! This site will cover many different things, depending on what is occurring in my life, and “wicked traveled” refers to multiple items. Travel does not always include a destination.
While I love to travel and teach college history for a living and always examine the history and culture of the places I explore, I am a huge POP! Culture fan. As a child of the 80s & 90s, I love movies and television. I build LEGO, play video games, rewatch films, and chat weekly with my brother about them, especially those we remember holding some meaning to us, both serious and ridiculous! The POP! Culture posts will allow me to explore unique joys, like musing about a movie marathon I have embarked on, thoughts on various episodes of a television show, and my most current LEGO Build or a conversation about past POP! Culture enjoyments.
In the final analysis, this blog will cover my travels, both near and far, recent and long since past, travel for joy and the journeys of life’s important moments, and traveling for historical pursuits or pure entertainment. I will showcase my photography of those places I have been to and those lived moments. Whether the photos are concerning a trip to a theme park, historical site, or as I travel into the past for a conversation of life’s unique moments – they are included. These “wicked” travels could be to further my historical curiosities and showcase the museums along the way or for the love of travel itself and the people I meet as well as the food and beer I consume. It will also allow me to share my half marathon travels and those places I run in, as well as conversations about past, lived events, video games I play, and LEGO sets I construct.
Join me for fun and interesting discussions of the places I have been to and will go to, as well as my POP! Culture musings I need to share. Each page simply provides a brief contextual background of my passions and ambitions for the blog. Hopefully, the things I enjoy, the places I have been, and where I have yet to go will act as breadcrumbs to those history lovers, half marathon runners, POP! Culture consumers and anyone else willing to take a leap and follow me. Each month, once a week, get a little bit of everything, but it’s 100% me. Welcome and thanks for joining me on this incredible journey.
